பக்கத்து அறையில் நோய்வாய்பட்டிருந்த கமலாவின் முனகல் சத்தம் கேட்டது.. "அப்பா..... கா.... சி...." கடந்த வாரம்தான் தாயை மருத்துவமனைக்கு அழைத்துச்சென்றான்.. பல விதமான பரிசோதனைகளை செய்த டாக்டர் எதோ வாயில் நுழையாத வியாதியின் பெயரை கூறினார்.. செலவு மட்டும் கிட்டதட்ட எட்டாயிரம் ரூபாய் ஆகிவிட்டது.. இப்போது கமலா தொடர்ந்து இருமுவதை கேட்ட காசிக்கு மீண்டும் செலவு செய்ய வேண்டுமே என்ற கவலை.. கமலா திரும்ப திரும்ப அவனை அழைத்துப்பார்த்து ஒய்ந்தாள்.. அடுத்த நாள் காலை காசி அருகில் வந்து அவன் தலையை கோதிக்கொண்டே கேட்டாள் கமலா "என்னப்பா காசி.. உடம்புக்கு ஏதும் நோவு வந்துட்டா?.. இராத்திரி முழுக்க உன் அறை விளக்கு எறிஞ்சுகிட்டு...
