Did you know?:
Roger’s had five win-streaks of at least 20 matches, and he’s taking a 29-match win streak into the 2007 season. Since 1990, two other players have won 20 consecutive matches more than once: Pete Sampras (three times) and Stefan Edberg (twice).
He averaged just 1.2 double faults per match in 2006, which was best among ATP Top 50.
Roger's Australian Open victory marks only the third time since 1987 (when the Australian Open moved to January) that a reigning year-end championship winner (Tennis Masters Cup or ATP Tour World Championship) has gone on to win the following year's Australian Open. Boris Becker won the 1995 ATP Tour World Championship and then the 1996 Australian Open, and Pete Sampras claimed the 1996 ATP Tour World Championship, before going on to win the 1997 Australian Open.
As the reigning Wimbledon champion, Roger is the first player since Pete Sampras to win Wimbledon one year and the Australian Open the next. Sampras won his first Wimbledon crown in 1993 and went on to claim his first of two Australian Open titles in 1994.
Roger became the fifth player to go from year-end No. 1 junior in the world to ATP No. 1: Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Marcelo Rios, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl
Roger ended the 31-match unbeaten run of Pete Sampras in the 4th round at Wimbledon in 2001.
He's one of 4 players (Edberg, Cash, Borg) to win junior and men's title at Wimbledon.
He won the Wimbledon juniors singles and doubles titles and finished No. 1 junior in the world in 1998.
